Poison frontman Bret Michaels canceled the remainder of his 2026 tour, with his representatives saying he had to recover from recent surgeries.
He recently had a kidney stone removed and a stent inserted. But after performing in Sugar Hill, Georgia, on Friday, his team said he would not be able to perform for the rest of the tour, Rolling Stone reported.
“Following Bret Michaels’ comeback show at @thebowlatsugarhill, doctors and paramedics determined immediately after the show that he still needs additional rest and recovery from his recent surgeries. Bret will be taking the next several months off to heal and get back to 100%,” the announcement posted to Instagram said.
Michaels posted separately, “In my nonstop spirit to go out & do what I love − which is to play music and to see all of you, all my family, friends and fans & meet everybody … it’s what I truly love − I may have just chosen to go sooner than I should have. We will come back better than ever.”
Six concerts from his “Live and Amplified Tour” over the next two months were affected. He also canceled his appearance at The Mountain Music Festival in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, as well as two events in November.
Michales, 63, talked about the kidney stone that would not pass earlier this year.
“The pain became intense but, as usual, I played through Charleston WV, Grantville PA and a special private show at Fairchild AFB in Spokane for veterans, active duty and their families,” he said.
The morning after his third concert, he had to go to the hospital for treatment.
Michaels was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a child and is an advocate for diabetes awareness, Fox News reported.
He’s had other health challenges over the years, including having a brain hemorrhage and a hole in his heart.
