Quinton Aaron spoke to ABC News and “Good Morning America” earlier this year, saying that the infection caused the spinal stroke, which put him into a coma for four days. He had to be intubated while hospitalized in Atlanta, WSB reported.

He was intubated and not able to speak for about a month. But while he was still hospitalized and recovering, he found out some other devastating news.

It turns out his wife, Margarita DeLeon, was still legally married to her former husband when she and Aaron got married in late 2024.

The stroke happened just about a year after their first anniversary, Entertainment Weekly reported.

She said she did not know that the divorce was not finalized. Aaron said that she told him she had been divorced for more than 10 years before their wedding.

“We would’ve never spoken if I knew she was married. I’m not the type of person that messes with married women. She kept telling me she was divorced for 10-plus years,” he told US Weekly.

He also said they “weren’t in a good space” before his medical emergency, adding that they had been arguing and there were “accusations and lies.”

She couldn’t make medical decisions for Aaron because of not being legally divorced from her first husband, he explained in April in an interview with ABC News and “Good Morning America.”

Since DeLeon was still married when she and Aaron tied the knot, the actor’s marriage was voided.

Aaron said the couple has not spoken since his stroke.

“There were times I remember seeing her in the room, but I was in and out of consciousness, and I didn’t speak to her because I was intubated,” he told Us Weekly in an article published on Aug. 19, adding, “I don’t need to speak to her ever again.”

He told US Weekly that he is now looking to the future as he continues his recovery process.

Aaron said he is “very optimistic” he will walk again. He is also trying “to take advantage of the second chance I’ve been given,” and is writing a book and working on a podcast.

Still, he has a long way to go, as he is just getting his voice back and is going through training to rebuild his upper-body strength.
