Surely there are easier ways to scam money from your insurance company, but a woman in Slovenia felt the bigger the pain, the larger the gain.
According to police, with the help of her family, the woman used a circular saw to cut off her hand, then told investigators that she injured herself while cutting branches.
To ensure that doctors would have no chance at reattaching the 21-year-old's limb, they left the severed hand at home.
Had she been successful, the newly issued policy would have paid out around €3,000 a month ($3,380 USD), but instead, she's looking at eight years behind bars if convicted.
