Man arrested after Gov. DeSantis attempts to vote, finds out someone changed his address

Collier County, Fla. — A Naples man was arrested after investigators with the FDLE found he changed Governor DeSantis' address in the Florida voter database.

While the governor was attempting to vote at his polling location Monday afternoon, he was told someone changed his primary address in the database. DeSantis contacted the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to investigate.

From there, agents contacted the Leon County Supervisor of Elections Office to get logs showing when and where the governor’s voter information was accessed.

Those logs showed that the changes were made on a computer by someone using an IP address that was linked to a Comcast internet subscription, according to the report.

Deputies from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office and special agents from FDLE conducted a search warrant on the address and found Anthony Steven Guevara and Emilio Acevedo inside the home. Guevara admitted to changing the governor’s address in the voter registration database.

He even showed investigators how he was able to change the address by accessing the “Voter information lookup” section on the dos.myflorida.com website. Digital evidence also showed Guevara accessed the voter registration website, according to investigators.

Officials believe Guevara accessed voter registration records for Sen. Rick Scott, Michael Jordan and LeBron James but made no changes to those records.

Guevara was arrested and remains at the Collier County Jail on a $5,000 bail.
