After suspending shows due to pandemic; Cirque du Soleil files for bankruptcy

Orlando, Fla. — Due to the on going COVID-19 pandemic, Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group filed bankruptcy Monday.

In March, the Montreal based company was forced to shut down productions in Las Vegas and all over the world, leaving 3,500 workers with no job.

The company also received $300 million in fresh funding to "support a successful restart, provide relief for employees and partners, and assume some of the company's outstanding liabilities," it said in the release.
