Man tries to keep his girlfriend from being arrested by making fake 911 calls

A Michigan man who tried to prevent his girlfriend from getting arrested is now behind bars as well.

The unidentified 23-year-old was taken into custody earlier this week after he called 911 three times to report a bogus shooting, according to the Wyandotte Police Department.

The man made the calls in an effort to distract officers who’d stopped his girlfriend on suspicion of drunk driving, police say.

While authorities say they did put a number of calls on hold while they responded to the fake report, the stunt didn’t stop officers from arresting the girlfriend, police say.

Then, after tracing the source of the 911 calls, they arrested the boyfriend too.

He’s been charged with misusing 911.
