ORLANDO, Fla. — The University of Central Florida has been fined by the Big 12 Conference.

In a statement, the Big 12 says it completed its review of the discriminatory chants directed at BYU during Saturday’s football game at UCF.

“While the Conference recognizes the pregame protocols followed by UCF and immediate actions taken during the game, including removal of some individuals responsible for the conduct, discriminatory behavior has no place in the Big 12.”

The conference issued a $100,000 fine to UCF, which will be directed toward student education initiatives.

In a statement to WFTV, UCF athletics tells Channel 9 that they are aware of the Conference’s decision and will be reviewing their options.
