Orange County, Fla. — A tropical wave in the Atlantic is on its way to becoming the 18th named storm of the season.
The National Hurricane center is tracking the system several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.
It is expected to develop into a tropical depression as it moves to the west across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic.
Forecasters are giving it a 90-percent chance of developing further.
The next named storms on the 2021 hurricane list will be Sam, Teresa and Victor.
