The study surveyed 549 teachers and found that those who reported eating more ultra-processed foods also reported higher levels of stress.
Participants were categorized into low, moderate, and high-intake groups based on their consumption of ultra-processed foods, with the low-intake group reporting the lowest stress levels.
Food intake explained about 4% of the differences in stress scores, indicating that other factors also play a significant role in stress levels.
While the study did not establish a causal relationship, it suggests that food choices may be linked to stress levels.
Researchers recommend making nutritious options more convenient to help combat the tendency to reach for packaged snacks during busy days.
