ORLANDO, Fla. — Central Florida will see another round of afternoon storms Sunday as heat and humidity build across the region.
Temperatures will climb back into the 90s, with highs expected to rise above 90 degrees across much of Central Florida.
With high humidity in place, the heat index could reach the triple digits in some areas before storms develop during the afternoon.
Scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected to develop Sunday afternoon and continue into the evening.
A few storms could become strong, with the main threats including heavy rainfall, wind gusts up to 40 mph, and frequent lightning.
Some locations could pick up 2 to 3 inches of rain by the end of the weekend, particularly where multiple rounds of storms move over the same area.
The wet pattern isn’t going away anytime soon.
Rain chances are expected to continue each day through at least the middle of the upcoming week, keeping the potential for additional heavy downpours in the forecast.
With frequent afternoon storms expected, remember to seek shelter indoors when thunder is heard and never drive through a flooded roadway.
