Community forum Tuesday night to focus on medical marijuana

ORLANDO, Fla. — A panel of experts will discuss medical marijuana and its roll-out here in Florida during a community forum Tuesday night in Orlando.

Florida A&M University's Medical Marijuana Education and Research Initiative will host the forum from 6:30-8:30 at the Valencia College School of Public Safety.

The auditorium is located at 8600 Valencia College Lane in Orlando.

The forum will feature a diverse panel of experts and local officials:

    Research Chair, MMERI Initiative, and Dean, School of Allied Health Sciences
    Florida A&M University
  • Bruce Antone
    Florida House of Representatives
  • Carlos Guillermo Smith
    Florida House of Representatives
  • Valeria Robinson Baker, RPh, C.Ph.
    Olympia Compounding Pharmacy
  • Uday Daphtary, MD
    Affordable Care Clinics
  • Mark Canty
    Undersheriff, Orange County Sheriff's Office
  • Leo Stoney
    Pastor, The MaxOut Church

Tuesday’s forum is open to the public.  FAMU public affairs liaison Angela Hardiman tells News 96.5 WDBO they want residents to attend and participate.

“We want to foster a two-way discussion, which is why we have such a diverse panel,” said Hardiman.

FAMU is also hosting additional forums in Tampa/St. Petersburg, Pensacola, Jacksonville, Palm Beach/Ft. Lauderdale and Miami-Dade and Monroe counties later this Summer.
