The NFL has announced that it will be eliminating the Pro Bowl Games and instead focusing on celebrating the honor of being a Pro Bowl selection.

Beginning in 2026, 88 players will be named to the Pro Bowl class in late December with no replacement selections.

Players selected as Pro Bowlers will be invited to attend an in-person celebration in Los Angeles during the traditional Pro Bowl weekend.

“… Ultimately, the Pro Bowl, at its core, is about honoring the best of the best in that season, on the field, in real games,” Peter O’Reilly, NFL executive vice president of club business, international and league events, told The Athletic.

The decision to shift the focus of the Pro Bowl came from conversations with players who value the recognition of being selected as one of the best in the NFL.
