LAKE NONA, Fla. — The Lake Nona High School Lions host the St. Cloud Bulldogs tonight in WFTV’s Week Six Game of the Week. The homecoming game marks the latest meeting in a rivalry between the two teams.
St. Cloud won the first matchup between the teams last year, claiming the district championship. Nona later defeated St. Cloud in the postseason, securing the first playoff victory in the Nona program’s history.
The matchup follows three seasons of competitive games between the two school programs. Nona High School Lions Head Coach David Aubrey discussed the history and familiarity between the opposing players ahead of the homecoming showdown.
“The kids are very familiar with each other. You know, we’ve had some competitive games the last three seasons. They beat us last year for the district championship. We came back and beat them in the play-off game. And it’s kind of a fun rivalry. It’s no bad blood or anything,” Aubrey said.
