Gov. DeSantis tweets Florida sees lowest new COVID-19 cases since mid-June

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis tweeted on Monday that Florida saw its lowest number of new COVID-19 cases since mid-June.

“Florida is reporting the lowest # of cases - 2,760 - since mid-June,” read one of the Governor’s tweets.

Subsequent tweets from the Governor said ER visits for COVID-like illness are down more than 60 percent since July 7th, and hospital admissions are down 60 percent since July 21st.

The news from the Governor came before the Health Department’s daily update of COVID numbers, which have been showing a downward trend lately. On Sunday, Florida added 3,899 new cases and another 107 COVID-related deaths. Monday’s new addition of deaths were not immediately available.
