With Florida’s August 18 primary just days away, Republican gubernatorial candidate Paul Renner joined Orlando’s Morning News with Scott Anez to discuss the state of the race and his campaign priorities. Despite polling that shows him trailing front-runner Byron Donalds, Renner said his campaign has momentum, calling it the “fastest galloping horse” in the race. He also pointed to praise from Governor Ron DeSantis, who recently said Renner could make a “really good Governor,” adding, “The more you research me, the more you’re gonna want me as Governor.”

Renner also focused on affordability, saying he is the only candidate with a plan to address homestead property taxes while also pursuing lower insurance rates and reforms to electricity costs. Looking ahead to Election Day, Renner said lower early voting numbers could make Election Day turnout the deciding factor. “We think we will be the surprise,” he told WDBO.
