Daily COVID-19 cases in Florida drop slightly, still top 8,500

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health's latest coronavirus report, updated this morning at 10:34 a.m., shows a daily case number falling to third place behind Friday and Saturday's record-breaking infection rates.

Keep in mind, the link above will automatically refresh with new data after each daily update; at approximately 11:00 a.m. June 29, the numbers will be different than what’s featured in this report. 

Here’s what you need to know:

  • 8,577 new positive cases have been reported statewide since Saturday, 141,075 in total.
  • Deaths have shown an overall decline in the last week, six deaths reported since Saturday bring the total to 3,419 statewide.
  • The median age for new infections has risen to 41 years old.
  • In Orange County, there are 831 new cases and 9,491 positive residents total.
  • In Seminole County, there are 166 new cases and 2,355 positive residents total.
  • In Osceola County,  there are 187 new cases and 1,780 positive residents total.
