Central Florida firefighter charged burning down his house

Orlando, Fla. — A Brevard County firefighter is facing arson charges after allegedly burning his house down to get insurance money.

An arrest report accuses Don Slayman of giving conflicting information about how the fire started.

His wife had made a little over $655,000 worth in claims to the insurance agency.

The Titusville home had been appraised for $280,000 and was unsuccessfully up for sale a few years ago.

Slayman is facing arson of a dwelling and burning to defraud.

He has since bonded out of jail.
