ORLANDO, Fla. — An Orlando-based charity is working to gather badly needed supplies for people in the Bahamas affected by Hurricane Dorian.
Volunteers, relief workers and supplies are pouring into the region after Hurricane Dorian decimated most of the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahamas Island.
One Heart for Women and Children of Central Florida is one of dozens of non-profits stepping up to help. Last week, they sent clothes, tarpaulins, peanut butter and other supplies to the islands.
Another batch of supplies will be delivered on Monday.
This week, One Heart is accepting donations of non-perishable food items, baby supplies, first aid and personal hygiene items at its office in Orlando.
One Heart founder and CEO Stephanie Bowman tells News 96.5 WDBO they will continue collecting relief supplies for the foreseeable future.
