ORLANDO, Fla. — Brightline temporarily suspended train service between Orlando and West Palm Beach Monday because of high water affecting the rail corridor in Brevard County.
The company said maintenance personnel are on scene and service will resume when conditions allow trains to move safely through the area. No timeline for reopening was announced.
The suspension comes as heavy rain brings flooding concerns across Central Florida, with a flood watch in effect for much of the region through 7 p.m. Monday.

Flooding disrupts travel and schools
Flooding also prompted Brevard County schools to cancel Monday classes. In West Melbourne, police urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel after flooded roads left vehicles stranded.
Brightline service between Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton and West Palm Beach is operating normally, according to the company.
Inspections required before service resumes
Rail infrastructure teams are monitoring conditions throughout the corridor in coordination with Florida East Coast Railway.
Once water levels recede, crews will inspect all tracks, signals and crossings in the affected area before passenger service resumes, Brightline said.
Affected passengers will be contacted
Brightline said it will contact guests with affected reservations directly about their travel options.
Passengers should monitor GoBrightline.com, the Brightline app and the company’s social media channels for service updates.
The company said it will provide additional information as assessments continue and a timeline for restoring service is determined.
