ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An 18-year-old has died after a shooting at an Orange County apartment complex Saturday night.
Deputies responded to the Lakeside Villas apartments shortly after 11 p.m. on Saturday for a noise complaint. Nearly 100 people, most of them in their late teens, were gathered near the pool behind the leasing office.
OCSO said people started scattering when the first responding deputy tried to break up the crowd. Then, the deputy heard a gunshot coming from behind the leasing office.
The deputy found 18-year-old Jordan Lecky unresponsive with a gunshot wound.
Lecky was rushed to the hospital where he died Monday. No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.
One woman who lives at the complex told Channel 9 she heard the gunshot that night.
“I was sitting on the couch with my husband and I just heard the shot and a girl screaming after it,” said Lisa Lester.
Several residents told Channel 9 that high school students frequently gather at the apartment complex to party and that the gatherings have been a concern for some time.
Google reviews also detail complaints from past residents about teenagers holding late-night parties in the parking lot.
Channel 9 reached out to Lakeside Villas management about residents’ concerns and what steps are being taken to address the gatherings but has not received a response.
Investigators are now asking anyone who attended Saturday’s gathering to come forward, particularly those who recorded video of the fight. Anyone with information is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff’s Office at 407-836-4357 or Crimeline anonymously at 800-423-TIPS.
