Big observatory painted like little Star Wars droid

A little droid was brought to life in a big way by one scientist in German.

Dr. Hubert Zitt, a German professor at Zweibrücken University of Applied Sciences, is a known Star Wars and Star Trek super fan.

As such, he decided to paint an observatory to resemble one of Star War’s favorite hero droids.

With the help of some students and his father-in-law, Zitt completed the out-of-this-world paint scheme in September of 2018.

The force is strong with this observatory.

It became so popular on the internet that even Luke Skywalker himself took notice and tweeted it out to his fans.

"R2-D2 Observatory Transformed Germans Into Giant Nerds," Hamill wrote on Twitter.

The good doctor isn’t the first one to bring the little Astromech to a huge form of life, though.

Back in 2010, Goodsell Observatory at Carleton College in Minnesota was also paint white and blue in resemblance of R2-D2.
