MIAMI — Beryl, the second named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, formed this afternoon. Weather forecasters say it is no threat to Florida.
Maximum sustained winds grew to 40 miles per hour around 2:30 this afternoon. An update on the storm’s status is expected from the National Hurricane Center at 5 p.m.
Beryl is expected to face shearing when it approaches the Lesser Antilles islands this weekend and weaken, then dissipate.
