Watch: Alligator caught on camera swimming in flooded roadway

Pinnellas Park, Fla. — You’ve heard the saying, if there’s water there’s probably a gator.

Lately, there has been lots and lots of water and proving the cliche to be true - there was also an alligator.

Roger Light Jr. was surprised to see the large alligator swimming in floodwater on the side of the road while he was stopped at a traffic light in St. Petersburg last week.

“OK, Who is playing Jumanji in Saint Petersburg, Florida?”, Light wrote on the post.

He said in a Facebook post, that not only did the sight startle him - but he said the reptile came right toward his passenger door.

Wildlife experts believe the nearly 8-foot long gator is the same one that was spotted wandering in traffic in the same area Thursday before it was trapped and removed.

Those who see alligators that may pose a threat to public safety are encouraged to contact the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-392-4286
