An Illinois woman giggled and smiled moments after she killed a couple in a 2022 DUI crash, body cam video reveals.
The clip, presented during Stephanie Melgoza’s sentencing, shows the 24-year-old laughing and attempting to joke with a police officer who’d just told her she’d killed 55-year-old Paul Prowant and 43-year-old Andrea Rosewicz. The Peoria police officer can be heard telling her, “You’re on body camera being completely careless about killing two people tonight. You could care less. That’s sad and pathetic and horrible all at the same time.”
Melgoza, whose blood-alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit, was sentenced to 14 years in prison.
