Watch as massive asteroid dubbed “The Rock” flies by earth

Earth — Astronomers are calling it a  “near-miss.”

An asteroid believed to be almost a half-mile long will pass by Earth about 7 P.M. tonight.

The asteroid, nicknamed "The Rock" by Slooh.com in honor of actor Dwayne Johnson, will pass by Earth at a distance of 1.1 million miles.

Scientists, from the website,  will point their Canary Islands telescopes at the space rock as it makes its closest encounter with Earth in 400 years.
