Photo: Man shares shocking before and after of COVID-19 infection

Boston, Mass. — A man who was hospitalized for six weeks with the coronavirus shared a before and after photo on social media to let people know how the virus can affect your body.

Mike Schultz told BuzzFeed News he thought he had only been sedated for one week after contracting the virus.

The avid weight lifter weighed 190 pounds before the illness and after treatment weighed only 140.

The 43-year-old said he was shocked that he was so weak he couldn't hold his cellphone or type.

Last week, Schultz shared the before and after photos with his 30,000 Instagram followers saying, “I wanted to show everyone how badly being sedated for 6 weeks on a ventilator or intubated can be. “

Shutlz said his lost lung capacity but that he is getting stronger everyday and is looking forward to doing cardio.

He told Buzz Feed, "I wanted to show it can happen to anyone. It doesn't matter if you're young or old, have preexisting conditions or not. It can affect you."

Schultz went to the hospital on March 16, two days after arriving in Boston from San Francisco.

He said he was a little under the weather but did not have a fever.
