Orlando deputies continue search for man missing for over 80 days

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has asked for the public’s help to find a 23-year-old man who went missing over 80 days ago, near the University of Central Florida.

Bryan Vladek Hasel lived with his father at The Place at Alafaya. His father said the last time he saw his son was November 5.

Vladek’s sisters say their brother started acting unusual before he went missing, turning unusually religious. Jodi Hasel said he kept asking what the purpose of life is if you can just die and go to Heaven.

Vladek’s other sister, Bethany Hasel, said she is looking for answers.

“He was very fixated on Heaven and asked my dad several times like what happens if you commit suicide. Can you still go to Heaven? What if I just go into the woods, and I lay down and die,” Jodie Hasel said.

“We just need to know he’s ok,” Bethany Hasel said. “We’re just worried, he’s never done anything like this.”

Vladek’s face is familiar in the Orlando area. His sisters say he frequently visited restaurants and businesses on Alafaya Trail. He liked to help people and gave much of his money to waiters and homeless people.

“Since Vladek is such a personable person and would make conversations with anyone he came into contact with, I believe someone knows where he is right now. I believe many people have seen his face,” Bethany Hasel said. “The more we can get his story out there, the more chance someone will recognize him.”

Vladek’s family is asking people to share his photos as much as possible to get the word out. They said they need to know that he is ok.

Bethany Vladek said her brother liked nature and always spoke about living in the woods. They said there’s a possibility that Vladek could be staying in the woods somewhere or living with a religious group. She also mentioned that Vladek could have harmed himself, or a homeless person could have hurt him.

“We will not stop working to ensure he returns home safely,” the Orange County Sheriff’s Office said on Twitter.

Anyone who has information on Vladek’s whereabouts is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff’s Office at 407-836-4357.
