Marijuana-infused K-cups hit store shelves

This gives a whole new meaning to 'coffee pot.'

Uncle Ike's Pot Shop in Seattle, Washington has started selling Catapult, weed-infused k-cups that cost about $10 each or $37 for a pack of 6, according to Yahoo Business

Catapult has been on the market since February and manager Jennifer Lanzador tells the Huffington Post that the weed-coffee combo "seems to give a kick from the caffeine, but it isn't a jittery feeling because of the THC... You get a nice energetic high."

A single-serving cups brews only 6 ounces of coffee but each k-cup contains a 10 mg of THC, which the state of Washington considers a single serving for marijuana edibles.

Since the use of recreational marijuana in Washington became legal less than a year ago, innovators are constantly looking for ways to package it. The Liquor Control Board says that marijuana-infused lollipops and gummi bears are out of the question because they appeal to kids, but a drinkable soda containing 22 milligrams of THC came out last June and was popular with consumers. Lanzador says there's more to come.

"It is a very exciting time for this industry and providing safe ways to ingest THC is a great alternative to smoking."
