Amid Zika fears, Florida theme parks offer mosquito repellent

"Long pants, long sleeves, bug spray on the the clothes, on exposed limbs," says south Florida expecting mom, Amanda Paradiz who goes through extensive lengths to make sure she is protected against mosquitos carrying the Zika virus.

"I can't walk out of my house unless I'm covered from head to toe," said Paradiz.

Now, according to a CNN report, some theme parks are taking notice and offering free bug repellent to park goers.

News 96.5 WDBO reached out to the theme parks Saturday who were not commenting then.

Walt Disney World, Sea World and Universal Orlando are spearheading the movement in hopes of sidelining any fears tourists may have of being exposed to Zika-carrying mosquitoes.

However, here is what Disney provided in a statement to CNN, "In an abundance of caution, we are accelerating preventative efforts throughout our property, including providing complimentary insect repellent to our guests along with helpful guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We have an extensive mosquito-prevention and monitoring program in place, and we continue to work closely with local, state and federal experts on this topic."

According to CNN, starting Sunday, Sea World Parks & Entertainment will be offering guests "complimentary EPA-approved insectrepellent" at all of its venues, from Busch Gardens in TampaBay to SeaWorld, said spokeswoman Aimée JeansonneBecka."We continue to stay in contact with local, state and federalhealth oijcials for the latest updates and recommendations,"she said.
