New York City to unveil ‘largest pride flag ever’

It's Pride month, and NYC is set to fly the largest pride flag in the city's history this weekend.

A mass 12-foot-by-100-foot pride flag will be unveiled at Four Freedoms State Park on Roosevelt Island starting Friday, and remain until the end of the month.

New York City has upped its Pride celebrations this year, declaring a "Year Of Pride" to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Riots, a landmark moment in the history of LGBTQ rights.

"It just seemed natural for the park to honor the LGBTQ community in this visible way," said Julia Ireland, also a member of the Four Freedoms Park Conservatory's board of directors.
