VIDEO: Woman fired after blocking black man from his apartment

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI — “To Be A Black Man in America...and Come Home.”

That's the title of D'Arreion Toles' Facebook video that shows a white woman blocking him from entering his own apartment building in St. Louis on October 13.

Toles was coming home late from work when he was stopped by Hilary Brooke Mueller at the entrance of his luxury downtown loft building.

“You’re blocking me,” says Toles.

“Into my building,” Mueller replies. Toles reminds her that it’s not her building and the two go back and forth with Mueller asking repeatedly what unit he lives in.

“I don’t need to tell you that. What unit do YOU live in?”

Fed up, Toles finally makes it past her and heads into the elevator... with Mueller following him all the way to his door.

“You see my keys in the door,” he says. “Don’t ever do that again. You look pretty stupid on video.”

On Facebook, Toles says that 30 minutes later, police showed up at his door because Mueller called them on him.

“I was shocked that this is America in 2018!” he writes.

The video has racked up over 6 million views and cost Mueller her job with property management company Tribeca-STL, who says they found the video "disturbing" and that they "won't stand for racism or racial profiling."
