WINTER PARK, FL — A woman is in the hospital after getting shot by a Winter Park police office Sunday morning.
Winter Park police responded to a home near the intersection of Harmon and Wisconsin Avenues in Orwin Manor after a report from a man that his girlfriend was trying to harm herself.
Officers found a woman with a gun in a home around 8 a.m. and tried to speak with her. During the exchange, police fired on the woman, hitting her.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the shooting.
She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening wounds.
