‘Witch Hunt’ and ‘Blood on her hands’: Uthmeier responds to Worrell investigating Hope Florida

The state attorney general joined Orlando’s Morning News with Scott Anez to address the attorney’s announcement, his race for the seat, and series of new lawsuits

ORLANDO, Fla. — Attorney General James Uthmeier’s time as the top prosecutor of the state may have only been for a short time thus far, but it has certainly been an impactful one.

The attorney general joined “Orlando’s Morning News with Scott Anez” on Monday morning as he continues his race for the seat he was assigned to back in February of 2025. Uthmeier tackled a range of topics, but it started off with a question about Orange-Osceola State Attorney Monique Worrell.

Worrell had previously announced her intentions to open her own investigation into the Hope Florida scandal. Uthmeier was chief of staff of the DeSantis administration at the time and was also named the head of one of the PAC’s that received the funds.

Uthmeier characterized the investigation as a “witch hunt” and claims “they’re (democrats) looking for any opportunity to try and smear Governor DeSantis, first lady DeSantis, and his team.” He went on to say that he and the governor want Worrell to do her job but referenced back to when she was removed from office by the governor and said, “I wouldn’t be shocked if it happened again one day.”

The attorney general also answered questions about the recent settlement by Meta with a series of states regarding their role in creating addictive habits on social media, a new lawsuit that was filed by the state against the pharmaceutical company Pfizer, regarding the aftereffects and warnings surrounding their Covid-19 vaccinations, and more.
