ORLANDO, Fla. — Throughout the campaign season, Congressman Byron Donalds has been the target of criticism, choosing not to participate in debates with his fellow republican gubernatorial candidates.

The congressman saying on “Orlando’s Morning News with Scott Anez” that his fellow candidates have a responsibility to “build meaningful support” across the state. Donalds contends the disparity in the poll numbers shows they haven’t been able to do that on their own. So, in the congressman’s words, “why would I do your homework for you.”
The gubernatorial candidate also had some candid reactions to accusations made against him by fellow candidate James Fishback.
During a press conference held in Tallahassee, Fishback revealed he had received insider information regarding a Department of Justice investigation into Donalds and fellow Congressman Cory Mills. The allegations included charges of sex trafficking, which both of the congressmen denied in separate statements.
Donalds adding during the interview, “this is why I don’t entertain clowns in politics.” The Department of Justice also denied there was an ongoing investigation against Donalds.
As far as policy, the congressman has continued to campaign on his experience in the business world and believes it is on local governments to continue to work to lower costs to support business and population development in the state. It’s why he says he supports Amendment 3, but regardless of its adoption, as governor he would move forward with evaluating all taxes and fees administered by the state with a “goal of eliminating homestead property taxes” with the Tax and Budget Reform Commission. “We want to be able to provide real relief to seniors on fixed income and working families in our state.”
