ORLANDO, Fla. — All eyes are on Invest 92-L in the Southern Gulf, where forecasters say a tropical depression is likely to develop over the next few days.
The system currently has a 90% chance of development over the next 48 hours as it continues to organize.
The latest forecast guidance generally shows the system moving northward, with the potential to impact portions of the North Central Gulf Coast, including Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama, by this weekend.
For Central Florida, the system is not expected to bring a direct tropical impact at this time.
However, its development and movement could still have an effect on our local weather pattern.
Central Florida will remain wet through the next several days as a stationary front lingers across the region.
As the Gulf system moves north, it could help push that front away from Central Florida, potentially allowing conditions to become drier later this weekend.
Forecasts will continue to evolve as Invest 92-L develops, so residents along the Gulf Coast should keep an eye on the latest updates.
If Invest 92-L becomes a tropical depression or tropical storm, the next name on the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season list is Isaias.
