Text threats lead to high school lockdown in Windermere

WINDERMERE, Fla. — Orange County’s newest high school was placed under a Code Red lockdown this afternoon, after some students received threatening text messages.

Police and the school district quickly dispelled rumors that a shooting had taken place.

The school was not allowing students to leave or anyone to get on campus, as deputies investigated.

According to a media relations officer with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, there may have been a fight that led to today’s threat.

This is a developing story that will be updated when new information is available.
