Some SeaWorld annual passholders to get money as part of lawsuit settlement

ORLANDO, FL — If you purchase an annual pass to SeaWorld as part of the company’s “EZ Pay” program, you could be eligible for a refund.

A group of passholders filed a lawsuit against the theme park over the automatic renewal of their expired annual passes, and a federal judge approved an $11.5 million settlement as part of a class action lawsuit.

More than 100,000 customers are eligible for payment. Florida customers who purchased passes between Dec. 3, 2008, to Dec. 3, 2014, could be eligible.

SeaWorld does not admit to any wrongdoing, but has agreed to pay to avoid a trial, according to court documents.

“EZ Pay” customers will receive at least $31.75 for each annual pass that was purchased. Those receiving refunds will automatically get a check, and do not have to take any action.

The refunds are also eligible for any customers who purchased “EZ Pay” passes in California, Texas and Virginia.
