Ahead of the first day of school, Seminole County Public Schools Superintendent Serita Beamon joined Orlando’s Morning News and Greg Rhodes to discuss the district’s continued success after earning an “A” rating from the state for the 20th time in 21 years.

Beamon credited students, teachers, and parents for the achievement, calling it “an all around win for our community.”
She also addressed recent budget cuts, saying reductions were focused on instructional support and district-level positions and that “the students will not see a difference in the classroom.”
The Superintendent also touched on the new safety rules for e-bikes, noting the district recently updated its code of conduct to require students to dismount and walk e-bikes while on campus.
When Greg asked about her busy schedule for day 1, Beamon promoted a special event at Crooms Academy in Sanford celebrating the school’s 100th anniversary. As students return for a new school year, Beamon emphasized the district’s commitment to student safety, saying, “We do not leave our buildings until every kid is at home and safe.”
