Say goodbye to the left-hand exit: New I-4 exit to Kirkman Road opens

The reconfigured ramps look nothing like the dreaded (and dangerous) left exit many drivers are used to.

Orlando, Fla. — A new entrance ramp to I-4 is now open at Kirkman Road.

The new lane is the last ramp at the interchange to move into its final configuration.

The new construction has eliminated all left hand exits that were part of the original design to eliminate drivers cutting across several lanes of traffic at the last minute.

“Southbound Kirkman Rd. riders will be able to enter eastbound I-4 after crossing over the interstate,” says spokeswoman Lee Brooks. “This is a new traffic movement that didn’t exist prior to the I-4 Ultimate Project.”

Drivers will need to be in the right lane as they drive over I-4 to enter the single lane ramp from southbound Kirkman Road.

A new pedestrian bridge over Kirkman Road near Major Boulevard will soon be completed.
