Registration Still Open for OPD Teen Police and Fire Academy

The Orlando Police Department is offering a free Teen Police and Fire Academy in June.

Officer Richard Patterson tells News 96.5 WDBO the nine day class is a joint partnership that will give high school students an up close look at the day-to-day lives of first responders.

“What the kids are basically going to learn about is, uniform patrol, assault and battery, fire, CPR training and drug enforcement.  We’re going to have K-9, SWAT, motors, mounted, as well as some CSI stuff.”

Patterson says there are only about 30 spaces left available.

Patterson says space for the academy is limited and time is running out to register before the first class on June 11.
