It's not even real, yet social media users are irrate about a photo of a plus-sized Barbie making the internet rounds.
The overweight doll is an entry from a 2011 Photoshop contest that asked artists to make normally thin celebrities appear more volumptuous. The Facebook group Plus Size Modeling shared the picture , with the question: 'Should toy companies start making plus-sized Barbie dolls? In all honesty, we want to know...'
The image received nearly 36,000 likes and over 1,600 shares. Critics say the 'heavy' Barbie is an inaccurate representation of curvy women and think there should be a 'normal-sized' doll that can encourage healthy eating habits.
One artist did his research into the regular Barbie doll and found that if she were to exist as a human, Barbie would weigh about 110lbs and would have a BMI of 16.24. This would fit the weight criteria for anorexia.
