Orange County Sheriff promotes Safe Storage of Firearms bill

Orange County Sheriff John Mina is calling for state lawmakers to act on proposed legislation aimed at keeping stolen guns off central Florida streets.

Sheriff Mina held a press conference Monday morning where he joined the bill's sponsors, State Representative Joy Goff-Marcil of Maitland and State Senator Victor Torres of Kissimmee to talk about it.

HB 923 would require gun store owners to secure their firearms after hours with either a steel rod or cable or in a safe.

State lawmakers will consider the bill during the upcoming legislative session next year.
