OPD: 2 Jacksonville men shot and killed while driving in Orlando

A section of East Colonial Drive between Coy Drive and Hampton Avenue was closed for hours as Orlando Police investigated the double homicide.

ORLANDO, Fla. — At around 2:18 a.m., as 25-year-old Darien Sulph and 30-year-old Brandon Bevel were driving west on East Colonial Drive, they were shot and killed near Bumby Avenue by unknown suspects in a different vehicle that pulled alongside them, according to a press release.

The victims’ car crashed into a Lynx bus stop in front of the Wendy’s at 2201 E. Colonial Dr.; both men were found dead with gunshot wounds.

No suspect information is available at the time of this report.

By 3:30 a.m., investigators had closed East Colonial Drive from Coy Drive to Hampton Avenue, forming a blockade with police cruisers that wasn’t lifted until after 11:30 a.m.

Police say that Sulph and Bevel “had gone out in Orlando for some nightlife” when they were killed.
