Mark your calendar:NASA sets a time for the launch of their Mars Rover

Cape Canaveral, Fla — Mark your calendar for 9:15 a.m. on July 17, 2020.

At that time NASA, along with United Launch Alliance, hopes to send the Mars Rover on it's way to the Red Planet.

The mission will use the nearly 2300 pound robotic scientist named Perseverance to get a better understanding of the geology and seek signs of ancient life on Mars.

NASA plans to send Perseverance into space with a United Launch Alliance Atlas V 541 rocket from Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

The rover will collect and store a set of rock and soil samples that could be returned to Earth by future Mars Sample Return missions.

The Mars 2020 mission is part of NASA’s larger Moon to Mars exploration approach which includes establishing a sustained human presence on the moon by 2028.

They say that will eventually lead to human exploration of the Red Planet.

Of course, we will keep you updated on the launch schedule and plan to carry it live on-air, in the WDBO app and on the WDBO Facebook page.
