The sign at the Shell gas station at 1001 S.R. 434 in Longwood read $3.39 a gallon at 6:30am this morning. That was not the case 30 minutes later when customers received ten free gallons of gas.
Shell and Winn-Dixie partnered up to offer the free gas as a promotion for their “fuel perks” program. The program allows customers of Winn-Dixie to save up to 5 cents per gallon of gas for every $50 they spend on groceries.
The customers who began lining up around 6 a.m. we’re just happy to receive the help in this tough economy.
The free gas promotion lasted until 8:30a.m. this morning.
“I was driving to work in the other direction, and I turned around and broke every speed record to get here in time for the gas.” said Sydney Jones.
