Link: How to honor Veterans on this Memorial Day 2020

Bushnell, Fla. — Massive ceremonies are not allowed this Memorial Day, but there is still an opportunity to commemorate the occasion.

The Joint Veteran Support Committee will host a pre-recorded virtual ceremony from the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, today at 11 a.m. with keynote speaker retired Maj. Gen. James S. Hartsell of the United States Marine Corps.

Many are struggling financially.

Despite no live event, the cemetery will be open to the public today, and people will be allowed to visit the graves of fallen soldiers.

Local veterans organizations are also suggesting the public show their support by donating to those who have been forced to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our Consumer Warrior Clark Howard shared his top choices for Veteran Charities, see the list below:

Another Clark-approved charity that is not rated by CharityWatch but has received a four-star rating from Charity Navigator five years in a row is Hire Heroes USA, which works one-on-one with Veteran and military spouses to help them navigate the civilian job market, trying to minimize the impact of Veteran and military spouse unemployment and underemployment.
