At least 4 dead in Nashville after heavy rain, flooding

So far, around 130 people stranded in their cars and homes have been rescued.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Authorities in Tennessee say four people are dead and at least 130 were rescued after severe weather caused major flooding there overnight.

More than 7 inches of rain fell in Nashville between Saturday and Sunday, according to WKRN.

Those deceased comprise of a 70-year-old man found dead inside of a sedan in a creek, a 65-year-old man found dead on the Nashboro Village Golf Course, and a man and woman found dead close to a homeless camp near Wentworth-Caldwell Park, according to police.

Rescue teams worked to save people from their cars and homes, and are said to still be attending to emergency calls even at the time of this report.

The rainfall, reportedly the second-highest amount ever recorded in these areas, led to the worst flooding seen by Nashvillians since 2010.

Drivers in Nashville are asked to avoid roadways at this time, as even just 2 feet of water is enough to carry away their vehicles.
