Kansas middle school under fire over explicit sex poster

A father in Kansas says he's outraged over a sex ed poster used in his 13-year-old daughter's class.

The poster reads: 'How do people express their sexual feelings?' then lists a series of sexual acts ranging from oral sex and "grinding" to saying 'I like you' and cuddling on the couch.

One student at Hocker Middle School was reportedly so shocked by it, she sent a picture of the poster to her father. At first, Mark Ellis thought it was a joke but later called the school to learn more.

'You know this had to pass through enough hands that someone should have said, "Wait a minute, these are 13-year-old kids, we do not need to be this in-depth with this sexual education type of program," said Ellis.

District spokesperson, Leigh Anne Neil, claims the poster is in line with a curriculum used across the country to promote abstinence.

But Ellis says if that curriculum isn't changed, he plans to pull his daughter from the school.

"This has nothing to do with abstinence or sexual reproduction," he said. "I would like to see that this particular portion of the curriculum is removed from the school."

The poster has since been removed. The Superintendent has also said he finds the poster troubling, adding the school board never approved it.
