Mattel might be making an 'I'm Sorry' Barbie after creating a children's book in 2010 that portrays American's favorite doll as an incompetent computer engineer.
The company posted an apology on their Facebook page Wednesday for the book 'Barbie: I Can Be A Computer Engineer' that shows the doll's failed attempt at a career in engineering and completely dependent on the help of men. She's even depicted as being so ditzy she can't turn on a computer.
From the book: "I'm only creating the design ideas," Barbie says, laughing. "I'll need Steven and Brian's help to turn it into a real game!"
Negative reviews of the book have been posted on Amazon since 2013 but the book was flagged this week by the website Pamie and Consumerist, leading to more public outrage. Critics say the book is degrading to women who work in the science field.
