Here’s the new things coming to Disney World in 2022

Orlando, Fla. — The sold out Destination D23 event takes place this weekend at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and there’s been a bunch of announcements regarding what new things will make their debut in 2022.

Among those include the return of the Festival of Fantasy Parade at the Magic Kingdom. You may remember a few years ago when the Maleficent dragon float caught fire. Another fan favorite, Fantasmic! will also return to Disney’s Hollywood Studios next year.

In terms of what’s new, some of the announcements include a new castle stage show at the Magic Kingdom called “Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire, which will replace the former “Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire” show. Also, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will open in summer of next year at Epcot.

Those in attendance also got to check out a live demonstration of the “real” lightsaber which will be part of their Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. You can see a preview of it here.

We’ve also learned that there will be a new revamp of the Downtown Disney District next year. Unfortunately, this means that the former AMC theater, along with Earl of Sandwich, Sugarboo & Co., and Starbucks are scheduled to close in January 2022.
